Testimonials

Angel Historic Tile Restoration: Masters of Heritage Flooring

At Angel Historic Tile Restoration, we are driven by a singular dedication to preserving the artistry beneath your feet. Since our founding, we have specialized exclusively in the sensitive repair, cleaning, and replication of historic tiled installations, primarily focusing on the exquisite geometric, tessellated, and encaustic floors of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Our name is synonymous with quality restoration that honors the past; we see ourselves not just as tilers, but as guardians of architectural history. Every project, from a small porch repair to the complete resurrection of a grand hotel lobby, is approached with the deep historical knowledge and meticulous craftsmanship that defines the Angel standard.

The Angel Difference: Authentic Materials, Expert Hands

True restoration demands more than simply patching a floor; it requires a deep, almost forensic understanding of 19th and early 20th-century tiling methods. At Angel Historic Tile Restoration, our methodology is built on authenticity. We begin with a careful, non-destructive assessment to determine the original clay composition, firing technique, and pigment source. When replacements are necessary, we utilize custom-made tiles from specialist foundries that precisely match the historical colours and durability of the originals. Our craftsmen use traditional cutting and setting techniques, ensuring the grout lines, sub-floor preparation, and final finish are chemically and historically appropriate, guaranteeing a seamless, durable, and genuine result that will stand the test of time.

The Soul of the Home: Unlocking Your Floor's Hidden Story

There is a unique emotional resonance to uncovering an historic floor that has been concealed for decades. For many homeowners, the restored tiles become the very soul of the property, offering a tangible connection to its past. When Angel Historic Tile Restoration undertakes a project, we are dedicated to revealing that narrative. We meticulously remove the layers of history—the old carpets, the modern adhesives, the grime—to let the original colours and intricate patterns speak again. The transformation is often breathtaking, turning a simple thoroughfare into a gallery-worthy feature that adds immeasurable character and financial value to your cherished property.

Restoring Grandeur: Commercial & Public Space Specialists

Angel Historic Tile Restoration is a trusted partner for commercial clients, conservation architects, and heritage bodies responsible for listed buildings and public spaces. We understand the specific demands of high-traffic commercial environments, where durability must meet historical accuracy. Our portfolio includes successful restorations in institutional hallways, museum lobbies, and period properties converted for modern retail or hospitality use. We are experts in undertaking large-scale, complex projects under strict deadlines, always ensuring minimal disruption while delivering a final product that is compliant with conservation standards and robust enough for contemporary public use.

removal of approximately 120 year old mosaic in Chorlton-cum-Hardy

Historical mosaics that were at risk of being lost after being discovered on a building site have been saved by a team of conservators with an hour to spare.

The coloured tiles depicting religious icons, which date back to 1905, were found during the demolition of a former Catholic school in Chorlton, Manchester.

All of the collaborators on this project were:

  • Tracey Cartledge – Mosaic Restoration Specialist
  • Anais Vlahakis – Art Conservator and
  • Matthew Baines – Junior Mosaic Restorer
